Redefining Sudden Cardiac Death

Zian H. Tseng, MD, discusses the conclusions of the UCSF Prospective Countywide Surveillance and Autopsy Characterization of Sudden Cardiac Death (POST SCD) Study, which showed that 40 percent of deaths attributed to stated cardiac arrest were not sudden nor unexpected and that nearly half of presumed SCDs were not arrhythmic.
